Who is Will Hansen? – 1:35

We learn about Will Hanson and his game Fano, a strategic playing card game. We get to hear about his playing card collection and some of his favorite video games.

Will is finishing his Ph.D. in biophysics (the same week as this publication) and will be starting his career as a senior scientist, designing proteins in CT, May 2020. He is rather new to the game design community; his first game Fano, a standalone combat card-game akin to MTG and Chess, was born from his love for abstract strategy and an obscure branch of mathematics called the octonions. The Fano plane enables a unique 7-way Rock-Paper-Scissors combat system. Players take turns commanding, mobilizing, attacking, and combining their forces to become the last player standing. Will is very excited to be interviewed by Board Gaming with Education and to share his experience at the interface of gaming and education.
