Looking for contributors! Board games and games for learning in the classroom!
A bit about us:
Board Gaming with Education is a community and online store that focuses on the positive benefits of tabletop games for learning.
“We are all about leveraging games for playful and engaging learning. We believe games and more specifically board games are teaching and learning tools that can be leveraged to create a more engaging, positive, and fulfilling learning experience. Our mission is to grow the idea of games for learning and to ensure best practices when doing so. We are here to help you find the resources you need for your learning environment, overcome challenges of implementing game-based learning design as a part of your teaching practice, find engaging at-home learning opportunities with board games, and most importantly help you find and play more games for learning!”
One unique thing we do is provide digital learning resources as a complementary addition to games purchased through Board Gaming with Education.
Here is a folder with some example learning resources for you to check out. There are resources for games like Nerd Words: Science, Evolution: The Beginning, Wingspan, and a Let the Dice Roll Handout. Resources vary depending on the game. And we currently have resources available for most of our science-based games.
If someone purchases a game through our store and resources are not available for the game yet, when resources do become available they will also get instant access to the new resources.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for two different types of contributors to join our early contribution team.
1. We are looking for those interested in helping us developed Board Gaming with Education branded resources that come complimentary with the games we sell in our store.
2. We are looking for those interested in developing resources for our community-driven digital marketplace. This will operate similarly to how Teacher Pay Teachers works. We encourage those interested in this type of contribution to submit their own resources that are game-based learning, gamification, or other games for learning resources. If you have resources that would go well with a tabletop game, there is a potential to add those to this marketplace as well, however, there are some stipulations that we can talk more about.
3. BONUS! You can always do both!
Please also keep in mind, this is the early stages of rolling this out and we are more than open to feedback and evolution of how this process grows.
I am in! How do I get involved?
First off, I encourage you to find our email newsletter and sign-up for our email community. This way if you are not familiar with who we are, you will get a better sense of what we do! We send emails out about once a week.
Next, send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know you’re interested and share a little about how you have used games for learning in your learning environment. Tell me a story, explain some resources you’ve used in the past, tell me why games for learning are important to you and your learning environment, or anything else you think would help me learn more about you and your relationship to games for learning. Please keep it brief (maybe a paragraph? or two? At most)!
What’s in it for me?
Join a community of game-based educators that share the same passion as you! We will have a dedicated community space for collaboration, insights, and tips on using games for learning.
Take advantage of other community-based perks that we will be rolling out in the future!
If you are interested in option 1, you will be compensated for your time. Please know, that you will be designing Board Gaming with Education branded resources which will give us rights to the resources when you submit them. You will receive recognition for any of your contributions!
If you are interested in option 2, you’ll have full control over how much you charge for your resources and will receive a high percentage of your rate. We will take a very small commission to accommodate the operation of the website, administrative costs, credit card fees, and other costs associated with running the marketplace. Feel free to send us an email if you have any questions.
Potential opportunities to grow with Board Gaming with Education! We are still a very new company and happily growing. There will be opportunities to get involved with Board Gaming with Education in the future, and as an early resource contributor, you will be among the first we look to as we grow our community.
Alright, alright, what’s the timeline for this?
We plan to host (at least) two meeting times in late May/early June to introduce everything in more detail and provide an opportunity for Q&A. At this time, we will share everything you need to know to get started and submit resources to us for either option 1 and/or option 2. These meetings will also be recorded, so if you cannot make it live, you’ll have a chance to watch the recording.
Finally, any questions??? If you think others will benefit from your question being public, feel free to ask below, otherwise, send me an email: email@example.com.
