What is Amped Up Learning? Amped Up Learning is Gregg Williams and Matt Parker, two history teachers.

A story about learning and gaming: The stock market game was Gregg’s most memorable game. He remembers playing a stock market game in history class when he was younger.

FRECK!: FRECK! is a competitive game for history class with different player and team actions in the game, like the “Rally Card” where everyone on the team has to answer a question based on a topic.

RISK IT!: Students travel across the Silk Road to learn more about world history through taking different risks. Silk Road has a push your luck mechanic to keep the game intersting!

How did Amped Up Learning get started? Gregg and Matt were neighbor teachers who both taught 8th grade. They filled a classroom/teacher need in the history classroom. Based on what was already out there for teachers, there was not something teachers could use to help their students learn in an engaging and innovative way. It took years of playtesting, from sharpie markers to create FRECK! and RISK IT!

Apparel? They also make clever apparel for teachers and history buffs. Check out an example here. If you purchased anything through their site, be sure to use the coupon code, “bgegames”.
